Disney Wedding Ads Featuring Real Weddings

Have you seen the recent Disney wedding advertisements? They feature real couples and their real Disney wedding photos and they also have a little photo of them not in their wedding clothes with their wedding date. I think it is an awesome idea - that anyone really can be a Disney princess bride and it isn't just a model they are featuring. I love that Disney sets up a time (usually at 6am!) before the park opens to take photos of you in front of the castle. This couple was lucky to pick May when the sun is up that early. Look at that perfect golden sunrise light!

And if you aren't reading a wedding or bridal magazine you might notice that Disney is doing the same for vacation ads. Another one I saw recently featured a family on Thunder Mountain (it was their actual vacation photo) and I need to look and see if there is a place where you submit your Disney vacation photos. It is such a fun idea! Kudos to the Disney marketing and advertising department!

I love people watching and window shopping when I am in NYC. I always like to go to Bloomingdales, Henri Bendel and Bergdorf Goodman to see what the trends are doing.

I loved that in Bloomingdales they had a whole section of wedding dresses! This is new for Bloomingdales - they don't have a bridal salon like Saks Fifth Avenue or Macy's and all of the dresses were gorgeous! They were not as big as traditional wedding dresses and many would be perfect for destination weddings, reception dresses or vow renewals.

Look at these dresses! I love the one front left - a Nicole Miller:

This one was my favorite - a Mark and James for Badgley Mischka:

Then up on the housewares floor I noticed this stunning place setting from Prouna. Gorgeous! It definitely fits the "this china has bling" description since it is covered with Swarovski crystals! It turns out Bloomindales just started carrying the Prouna line!

I was walked around and talking to Chris on the phone. He was back in Orlando working on these awesome Umbra frames we have been putting in our hallway. We bought a bunch of white ones in Canada a few years ago and we decided to get a few more and make a whole wall collage of the Polaroid looking frames. Then I saw this Banana Republic window and had to send Chris a photo!

I also have an obsession with macarons and you can't find good ones in Florida. I think it is too humid and the egg whites don't stay crisp. So I ate a few. So delicious!

These are from the Francois Payard Chocolate Bar:

And one night I headed over to the meatpacking district to see what the area was looking like these days. I used to work right here in this intersection and it looks so different now. They have added big pots and pedestrian areas - it used to be a mess of big meat trucks and cars:

I also stopped in to Fig and Olive for an awesome meal!

New York City

I decided I wanted to go up to New York City back in January so I booked my flight for May when I had a few days off. I like to go up there a few times a year - I lived there briefly just out of college and I really love the city. Sometimes Chris joins me and we were just there in December for our anniversary so I figured I would go alone this time. I told my friend MJ I was going and she hadn't been to NYC in years so she decided to join me.

We talked and laughed the whole flight and I knew it was going to be a fun trip! I always love to fly into JFK so I can take the subway into the city. MJ was fighting it and she was still fighting it AFTER we swiped our MetroCard and headed down to the platform! But I won and we hopped on the train. MJ has one of those new suitcases that wheels in any direction. She let go of it and didn't even notice it has started to roll around the train on its own. While we were deep in laughter and conversation a man across from us kept saying "miss! Miss! MISS!" and finally we looked and MJ's suitcase was rolling out the door onto a platform! It was hilarious and we thought that was a funny start to our trip.

MJ and her rogue suitcase:

We hit the ground running - MJ wanted to hit all the big stores that she loves - Chanel, Prada, Miu Miu, etc. I love to look at that stuff but I'd rather spend my money on shoes.

Chanel had tons of feather looks I loved:

We then checked into our hotel and I was really hoping for a Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) sighting. I love Gossip Girl! In the TV series Chuck actually owns the Hotel Empire.

Our hotel was right across from the Lincoln Center and I loved how at night the stairs lit up with upcoming events and messages. It was rainy so you can see my umbrella in the top of the photo!

A fun shot of us in the hotel lobby with the iPhone's Photobooth App:

By the way I packed light for this trip (trying to save room in my suitcase for shopping!) and I didn't even bring a camera. All of these photos are taken with my iPhone and it did a pretty good job!
